Shifnal returned from Great Wyrley with another three points, following a comfortable victory against a Community side that showed ability until it came to the final third of the field, where they carried little threat. Town had most of the play in the first period, and had Brad Sharman’s 18-yard effort in the 18th minute been a yard either side of the keeper, they would have taken the lead. The pressure continued, and Jay Holdcroft saw his 22nd-minute header from Jordan Jones’ cross tipped over the crossbar by Callum Smith. The opening goal came from the resulting corner, Sharman’s kick being headed firmly home by JAKE LLOYD. Shortly afterwards, a lucky ricochet fell to Tom Hill, but his shot on the turn clipped the crossbar. Shifnal doubled their lead after 29 minutes, when Holdcroft broke on the left, and his cross was headed past Smith by HILL.
The second half continued in much the same vain, with the visitors dominating most of the exchanges. Daniel Lloyd headed wide at the far post from Angelo Franco’s 55th-minute corner, before they extended their lead in the 58th minute. A long clearance from keeper Jake James was headed on for JAKE LLOYD, who took a touch before firing into the top corner from 15 yards. The hosts should have pulled a goal back after 79 minutes, when substitute Emile Beckford won the ball on the right, but the unmarked Alex Knight scuffed his first-time shot from 12 yards. The fourth goal was a messy affair a minute into time added on. No one took control of a corner from the left, and following a melee, HILL smashed home the loose ball from close range.
