The under 12s kicked off the season with a 1-0 win away at Sedgley and Gornall. Despite playing uphill in the first half, they took an early lead with a 20 yard strike from Troy Wheaver. The keeper got his hand to it but couldn’t stop it from hitting the back of the net. They continued to put pressure on in the first half, but were unlucky to get caught offside a few times. Sedgley came out a lot stronger in the second half, but the defense worked tirelessly and they only managed one shot on target from a free kick which was well saved. Shifnal were unlucky not to get another goal late in the game, with the goal keeper pulling off two fantastic saves. It was a great team performance today with all the lads working hard, which made choosing a man of the match difficult. The eventual winner was Reece Collingridge with a solid performance in the middle of the pitch.
